Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from PhotographyBLOG!
Looking back at 2003, PhotographyBLOG sprang into life on January 16th with a story about the Canon EOS D60 digital SLR camera being discontinued. The site has grown rapidly throughout 2003, from a few hundred unique visitors in January to over 50,000 in December, and it is now ranked the 68,531th most popular website in the world by Alexa.com. 1,326 news stories were posted during 2003 with 1,423 comments made by you, and we now have 652 registered members. PhotographyBLOG has also received favourable reviews from the likes of Popular Photography and Web User magazines. All in all it was a very successful year, and I intend to further improve and develop the site in the coming year.
2004 promises to be yet another exciting year for the digital camera market in particular, with new digital SLRs from the likes of Canon, Nikon and Minolta, and further decreases in price and affordability. Quality 3 megapixel cameras now cost under £200, and with 6 and 8 megapixel cameras due in 2004, those prices can only fall even further. As usual the PMA and Photokina photography trade shows (in February and September respectively) will be where most of the major product announcements will be made.
Personally speaking, 2003 was the year that I bought my first digital SLR camera, the Canon EOS 10D. Over 6,000 images later, I’m more than happy with my decision to go digital. I’ve sold prints up to 30x20 inches in size and have just had some pictures accepted by a stock image library, proving that the quality is definitely there. I’ve hardly used my 35mm SLR camera since buying the 10D, and my film scanner is gathering dust. In 2004 I intend to take and sell more photos - it promises to be a busy year as I set up my own business and find new markets for my work.
So here’s to a prosperous 2004 for all of you

Happy New Year.
Mark, Thanks for making this site such a great resource and one which has a great feel about it.
I've just started taking photography more seriously in the last six months, and the gallery has been a great source of inspiration and motivation - and I love the boost my new Canon 300D has given me (Minolta 500si super gathering dust).
With all the other sites out there, I am glad this one is deservedly growing and growing.
regards
