Hasselblad to Distribute New Zeiss Ikon Camera System

9/28/2004 Carl Zeiss has introduced a new 35 mm rangefinder camera system named Zeiss Ikon. The system uses M bayonet type lenses and will initially consist of body, 7 lens types and accessories. The body and 3 lens types will be available from spring 2005.

Hasselblad will be the worldwide distributor of the Zeiss Ikon system outside of Japan.

very interesting but also very scary as it might be too expensive with hasselblad. the rollei35 rf died as it could not compete with the bessa. if it is to be popular it has to make sense for the interested people like me.i gave previous comment and never received reply. when the camera and when the lenses. thanks guido

Four of the lenses will be shipped out of Sweden in November - 25, 28, 35, & 50. The other 3 will be available in 2005 15, 21, & 85. Prices will be at least 40% less than Leica - except the 15 & 85 lenses, which will be built in Germany & therefore more expensive. All others will be built n Japan. Camera is expected to be $1500+ USD.

thank you very very much as only you seem to have info and i would add interest in. i am 65 years old have digital camera but nothing yet would make me quit film. it is important that it continues thanks again guido. the new bessa r2a r3a will be a hit for sure.

very strange that the lenses come out first and the body will follow next year. i am following this very closely as i have reserved interest as it is a strange move unless a digital body is in the oven thanks guido
