Cartier Bresson was a much over rated pohotgrapher. I asume mostly people remember him because his pictures resemble those ghastly entries in amateur photography magazines. Or maybe it is because they think that he is somethibg to do with Cartier the upmarket jewellery brand? Oh well!

He captured street life in Paris and advanced the state of photojournalism. I think that although you may think his pictures look amatuerish at the time he was very forward thinking in how people took pictures. He was one of the first people to walk around with a camera and photograph people going about their lives.

I prefer an amateur looking Cartier-Bresson photo over a technically perfect but shallow landscape photo from National Geographic
