Idan Shechter Posts Canon EVIL Concept Images

Idan Shechter of DigitalPhotographyWriter has just posted two concept images of what Canon’s EVIL camera might look like, should the Japanese giant decide on launching one in the first place. “I have decided to become a concept design artist for one day, in order to try my photo editing software skills, and see what I can come up with,” Idan says. “I have tried to come up with a unique concept design that is based on current Canon DSLR models.” While we have no idea if / when Canon plans to enter the compact interchangeable-lens camera market, we have enjoyed reading about Idan’s efforts and seeing the results.

I always liked this blog because it wasn't yet another rumour mill. There are plenty out there already.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your kind words. This is not a rumour, either - we have been very upfront in saying where the image came from and that Canon might not even be thinking about bringing an EVIL cam to the market at all. This is just a concept image created by a guy who does not claim to be affiliated with Canon or anyone else. We thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Right, it's not a rumour, just someone's idea (and probably not a very realistic one) of how a camera might look like should it ever be released. I still can't see what's newsworthy about it. Sorry.

I can't help thinking that IF Canon decided to release a mirrorless camera, they might come up with something a bit more stylish than an EOS with the bump filed off.

This is on a par with me saying that IF Leica released a bicycle it might look a bit like this one I scribbled on the back of a soggy beermat.

I'm with Jan on this one.
