Julius Shulman Dies At 98
World famous architectural photographer Julius Shulman passed away on Wednesday. He is noted for documenting the works of leading Modernist architects throughout most of the 20th century and his mission of building the reputation of these architects through his excellently composed photographs. His career as an architectural photographer started at the age of 26, when he met architect Richard Neutra, and he continued taking assignments into his 90s until his declining health prevented him from carrying on.

#1 Denver Engagement Photographer
He was 26 when he started his photography career, and I was 26 when I got my first paid gig. It's nice to see another extremely successful photographer who didn't start out at the age of 16 like I feel like so many photographers did. While I don't do that much architectural photography, it's still sad nonetheless. Always hard to loose great photographers.

He did landscape/nature/portrait photography as well. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit with him at his house last year. He had some nice landscape prints of his hanging on the walls. He also was able to guess my age to the year based on the size of my nose. He told me he had done so many portraits that he could always tell from the nose. A very interesting character. RIP.

The guy did well to make it to 98, many of those would be happy to get there and still be half sane! Great photographer, and sad that he has passed away.
