Leica D-Lux 2 Announced

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | September 23, 2005 | 3 Comments |

Leica D-Lux 2Photoworkshop.com have published details about the new Leica D-Lux 2, an 8.4 megapixel digital camera which also supports images in the 16:9 format. The DLux 2 also offers a 4x optical lens equivalent to 28–112mm, 2.5 inch LCD screen and optical image stabilsation The Leica D-Lux 2 appears to be a rebranded version of the Panasonic DMC-LX1. The main differences seem to be a new Leica digital adapter for connecting the D-Lux 2 to a spotting scope (nature photographers rejoice) and a different accessories package. No word yet on price or availability, although the Leica D-Lux 2 is rumoured to be available in November.

Busted link. And their website blows; couldn't find info about the camera anywhere.

For a site aimed at visual professionals, they sure don't have a clue about usability or design.

They must have removed the page. Here's a Google cached version.

Why has Leica lied about the thickness of this camera like Panasonic did, it isn't an inch thick, it's two inches thick, unless you hacksaw off the lens! panasonic touted a misleading size, I guess, in hopes that folks would consider the fake size as a purchase consideration... WRONG! Why dont they just admit it is a repackaged Panasonic LX-1, too... We consumers dont't appreciate being tricked.
