LetsGoDigital Reviews FujiFilm FinePix F610

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | April 18, 2004 | 9 Comments

FujiFilm FinePix F610LetsGoDigital has published its review of the FujiFilm FinePix F610, a 6-megapixel digital camera that was first announced back in November 2003.

“The camera lies comfortably in the hand, although I can imagine that some consumers will have to get used to photographing vertically. The complaints of the slow reactions of a digital camera don’t apply for the FinePix F610; Fujifilm has sorted out that problem. The camera starts up swift as an arrow, even more so considering the optical zoom lens has to be positioned. Also the automatic focus, the fast interval of release and the possibility to shoot 5 images in a very fast speed make this FinePix F610 a rapid guy.”

Their reviews are so annoying - they never seem to show any sample photos taken with the camera :(

Yeah I agree, you can get a better opinion from this site: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=15&id=1038

I am trying to decide between this camera and the Canon S50... does anyone have any advice?

I would see if you could try both of the cameras out - perhaps at a local shop - or perhaps you know a friend with one? The Fuji seems to have a much better video mode (640x480/30fps vs 320x240/15fps) if that would be of use to you - but you'd be best trying them out to see which one works best for you.

Thanks for the advice Josh. The video mode is not something that I really care for, however. What I think sets this camera apart is the second LCD and its unique design. I am not too sure about the image quality, however. I know the S50 has amazing image quality and hence my decision depends on how close the F610 gets to the S50's image quality.

If you've seen the pictures taken by the F610 on the review posted above, and can let me know what you think of their quality, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks.

I have just received the FinePix F610 and will be posting my review in the next couple of weeks grin In the meantime I could post a couple of sample photos for you so you can evaluate the quality for yourself.

Well, it's raining in London today :-( So I'll probably be able to post some pics this weekend if the weather improves.

It looks like another gloomy day here in Cambridge and therefore in London too I suspect...

Just a few questions:

- Does the F610 have the same CCD as the S7000? Will this mean that I can get some idea of the picture quality from reviews of the S7000?

- What do you think of the build quality? Is it 'smaller' than the S50? It is hard to get an idea of how bulky it is from just the measurements since it is a different shape to the S50.

Thanks!

Sid, yes, the F610 does have the same CCD as the S7000. Here's a link to my review:

I've never used the S50 so I can't compare the 2 cameras.
