MASTERS OF VISION EXHIBITION RETURNS
.. Joe Cornish announced as Master photographer at Biennial landscape exhibition..
This summer will see the welcomed return of the biennial landscape photography exhibition, ‘Masters of Vision’. Throughout August, Southwell Minster Cathedral in Nottinghamshire will provide a stunning backdrop for this major exhibition celebrating the state of the art in British landscape photography circa 2013. It will showcase the work of legendary master landscape photographer Joe Cornish and eight other inspirational UK landscape photographers.
‘Masters of Vision’ is the creation of local Landscape Photographer and writer Pete Bridgwood. “The idea was to mount a major exhibition featuring the work of an established master landscape photographer and to invite some of the most talented emerging photographers on the current scene to exhibit their work alongside that of the master”. Pete continues “The underlying foundation that underpins any form of art is freedom; freedom to interpret, freedom to express and freedom to create. Each photographer has therefore been given carte blanche to choose and hang images as they wish and design their own section of gallery space. There will be an eclectic mix of differing presentations.”
Pete explained that thinking behind the moniker ‘Masters of Vision’. “It stems from the idea that one of the enduring lures of landscape photography is the incredibly difficult challenge of encapsulating and then transferring all the emotional constituents of a scene through to the final viewer of the exhibited print and eliciting an emotional response. The thing that’s central to this process is ‘vision’, the ability to pre-conceive, visualise and realise a creative goal. All of the exhibiting photographers have a mastery of this process, so that’s the reason for the title.” Masters of Vision has previously showcased the work of some of Britain’s most talented landscape photographers; this year, they are thrilled to welcome Joe Cornish. Joe is well known for his large format landscapes, his work has featured in countless articles in many photographic magazines and he remains committed to inspiring others, having published several books and DVDs. Joe Cornish will be concluding the opening day of Masters of Vision in the cathedral with a spectacular and inspiring talk on Saturday 27 July.
