MPA Press Release
Discover MPA’s True Colours
The Master Photographers Association has announced a national portrait seminar tour at a remarkably low price to photographers, thanks to the generous support of Epson UK.
President Paul Cooper FMPA leads a team of top MPA seminar speakers to prove that portraiture can be profitable – from pose to print under perfect control, you can shoot, show and sell.
Sponsored by Epson who will show the workflow to fine prints and with studio lighting by Elinchrom, the seminars are presented by Colin and Linda Buck and each features a top regional name. See Hoss Mahdavi in Hemel in April, followed in May by Mark Bryce in Scotland, Morag MacDonald in Bristol, Clare-Louise in Coventry. The cost? Reduced from £65 to a fantastic £15 only for MPA members/guests – £20 for non-members.
Quality counts in creative social photography, and no-one has a better grasp of quality than MPA President Paul Cooper FMPA. From the first days of professional DSLRs Paul worked to ensure that the output created by Bailey-Cooper Photography in York has matched the demands of international commerce and picture agencies as well as local businesses and private clients.
For his own work and the award-winning still life created by his wife and business partner Kate, he has devised colour managed, quality assured workflow. ‘True Colours’ is one part of the theme of this MPA national seminar tour during April and May – with the sponsorship of Epson UK and their wide gamut professional printers, we’ll be demonstrating how easy it is to make digital work better than even the best lab hand printing achieved in the past.
Colin and Linda Buck are also planning to talk about the association’s ‘true colours’ – what is MPA all about? Why does MPA exist and what does it really stand for? What do qualifications mean in the real world, how valuable are awards if you enter and win? But this will be an audience-driven part of the seminar, before the close of each day – a chance to grill the Chief Executive and Company Secretary with questions from the floor!
Each of the True Colours tour days will start with registration and a chance to chat to trade sponsors, Epson UK and studio lighting experts The Flash Centre who bring their Elinchrom studio to every event. Paul Cooper will introduce the day with a fast, assured workflow – the right hardware choices, calibration, shooting methods, software, proofing and output to ensure clients are never disappointed.
After morning coffee, at 11.30am the guest photographer will stage a live studio portrait shoot with a chance for hands-on participation. During the lunch break you can use the studio. Hotel lunch at your expense, but a buffet provided courtesy of Epson UK at their own HQ hosted seminar.
Prints will be made and at 1.30pm there will be a print clinic discussing the work from the shoot, and also any examples of problem prints you want troubleshooting. An intensive marketing and sales method session will round off the hard work of “pose to print” by turning it into “shoot, show and sell” before Colin and Linda Buck finish the day with MPA question time. This will include an explanation of the MPA’s 2012 Awards entry procedure, new categories and the latest rules.
