Páramo Press Release
New Ladies’ Alondra jacket from Páramo
- each jacket sold plants a sapling with Trees for Life
Páramo Directional Clothing Systems is launching a new ladies’ jacket – the Alondra – at this year’s Rutland Bird Fair. The Alondra is particularly good for wildlife watchers, outdoor photographers and fieldworkers among others. Seven generous pockets allow women to organise, transport and easily access a range of essential equipment. The Nikwax Analogy waterproof fabric sets this jacket apart – providing Directional weather protection which removes perspiration effectively, and is soft and quiet but strong and durable.
Each Alondra jacket sold will contribute a sapling to be planted in the Scottish Highlands by the charity, Trees for Life, with whom Páramo have worked for some 7 years.
The ethically manufactured Alondra Jacket joins the growing Naturally Páramo range (including the Halcon and Pájaro Jackets and Pájaro Trousers), which are designed with and for nature professionals and enthusiasts.
Unique Analogy fabric
Páramo’s Analogy waterproofs are very popular with wildlife watchers and photographers because they provide weather-proofing that is quiet and soft to wear, not frightening away the very thing they have come to see. The Directional fabric mimics mammal fur in construction and function, pumping moisture away from the wearer, so removing perspiration and ensuring that the wearer does not get chilled after working hard. The waterproofing doesn’t depend on membranes, laminates or taped seams to keep the water out, meaning that it won’t deteriorate over time, and the waterproofing can be renewed indefinitely with Nikwax aftercare products, for significantly greater longevity.
The Alondra’s flattering lines and generous mid-thigh length styling gives weather protection without restricting movement. The adjustable, stow-away hood accommodates hair easily and doesn’t compromise vision, while the fleece-lined collar gives extra comfort. The shoulder and arm articulation allows excellent freedom of movement and comfort.
Generous, plentiful pockets
The seven pockets are sited to offer maximum carrying space in the right place:
Two external breast pockets – one map or book sized and one ideal for a phone case;
Small internal secure chest pocket for easy location of small items;
Two fleece-lined and poppered handwarming pockets;
Two buttoned, bellow pockets large enough to hold an identification pockets.
For each Alondra jacket purchased, Páramo will donate a sapling to Scottish conservation charity, Trees for Life to help their restoration of the Caledonian Forest. The Head of Income Generation for Trees for Life, Celia Brady, said “We are extremely grateful to Paramo for their inspiring support for Trees for Life’s work to restore the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands. By giving a donation from sales of their new ladies’ Alondra jackets, Páramo will add to the hundreds of trees that have already been planted with donations from the Pájaro and Halcon jackets. Trees planted by Paramo through their ‘Buy one, get one tree’ promotion are helping to transform empty hillsides into healthy young woodlands, creating homes for wildlife and forests for the future.”
