London, UK, 13th September 2012: Nikon today announces its fastest 1 NIKKOR lens yet, the 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 prime lens.
An exciting addition to the Nikon 1 system, this bright CX-format standard lens offers Nikon 1 owners the chance to venture beyond a kit lens and take advantage of the creative possibilities that fast aperture can offer, including pleasantly blurred backgrounds in portraiture and comfortable low-light shooting.
Simon Iddon, Product Manager, Nikon 1 Compact System Cameras, Nikon UK says: “The small size of the Nikon 1 system makes it a perfect solution for photographers looking for portability, power and speed without compromising on quality. Such factors have contributed to making the Nikon 1 the biggest selling system in its category in Europe1.”
He adds: “As the fastest lens to join the range, the 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 allows superb low-light images and beautiful bokeh: it increases the flexibility of the Nikon 1 system beautifully.”
1 NIKKOR range
1 NIKKOR lenses capture life with exceptional sharpness. Designed with active lifestyles in mind, the growing range covers a wide range of scenes and each lens is optimised for movie recording. Combined with the portability, power and speed of Nikon 1 cameras, the small size of 1 NIKKOR lenses truly sets the Nikon 1 system apart. As the fastest lens to join the range, the 1 NIKKOR 18.5mm f/1.8 allows superb low-light images, even at low ISO, and portraits with beautiful bokeh.
Fast and bright
The strong combination of 18.5 mm focal length and large maximum aperture makes this new 1 NIKKOR lens perfect for low-light situations and for portraiture. The 18.5 mm fixed focal length offers a picture angle equivalent to approx. 50 mm in 35 mm format, which is ideal for portraits as well as general photography. The fast f/1.8 maximum aperture perfectly balances sharpness and bokeh, rendering low-light moments with superb clarity and letting you single out subjects to create images with smooth, out-of-focus backgrounds.
High-quality glass
Equipped with high-quality glass, this 1 NIKKOR lens delivers edge-to-edge sharpness even at maximum aperture. An aspherical lens element ensures superior resolution and contrast, and a smooth aperture mechanism lets you move easily from sharp to soft backgrounds whether you are shooting stills or a movie. The small size of the lens balances perfectly with small Nikon 1 camera bodies, offering exceptional image quality without sacrificing portability.
Vision and style
Lightweight, easy-to-carry and great value for money, this new 1 NIKKOR lens is available in shiny silver as well as semi-gloss black, and white. Optional accessories include the CL-N101 lens soft case and the HB-N104 bayonet lens hood, which helps reduce stray light and minimise flare for images with better contrast and color saturation.
The lens is supplied with a front and rear lens cap.
