OK, nice!
But why is the 55-300mm so cheap? Especially when compared to the 70-300mm VR?
Are DX only lenses cheaper to make?

It's not that mush different is it?
£370 for the 55-300 DX versus £418 for the 70-300 FX. (on Warehouse Express)
The DX lens will be smaller overall and use less glass in the elements.
