Looks much better than die P310 but is not so much different than the 6 month old S110.
So a typical "me too" product, not more. I wonder why Nikon doesn not use the 1 inch Processor of the Nikon 1 or Rx100?! May be they wanna protect their system line!?

On paper it seems a fair, but nowhere revolutionary, improvement over the S110. I was considering to buy the Canon, or stretch my budget going with the RX100 that is indeed a league apart. For me this Nikon seems very attractive. I'm just waiting to see the speed of the camera (AF, buffering, review, raw shotting, etc) and maybe some unexpected quirks. It is probably a P7700 in a smaller body with shorter lenses.
The biggest differential is that Nikon seems to understand that people travel overseas with their cameras, and thus let you select NSTC/PAL mode on the menu. Such a simple thing, but Canon and Sony insist in enforcing this artificial market segmentation.
It is good to have more choice and competition on this truly pocketable enthusiastic compact camera segment.

this could be the upgrade I've been waiting for a long time. I hope in a good price else it remains on the shelf ;-P
