If anyone can interpret Hungarian, I would be interested to know how
well the S4 did in this review. Köszönöm. smile

Hi, Gary, I found your message this evening. Well, the guys at Index Digicam were more than impressed with this little gem. This is a liberal translation of the Conclusions of their review:
___________
It is not difficult to evaluate this camera: If you feel you could make good use of a zoom that puts many midsize digital cameras in the shadow, would be happy with the freedom the swivelling lens offers and would be glad to have needle-sharp, dynamic pictures without having to tweak the camera but would like to have some manual control over the most important aspects of picture-taking and if you need a rather fantastic macro mode, you will not only be happy with the CoolPix S4 but will have to admit that you simply have no other choice. I had to think long to find anything bad about this camera -- the only thing that comes to my mind is the void it left when I had to return it.
----------------
As you can see (and I believe you already knew) this seems to be a very-very interesting camera. If you want to have it, go ahead!
Good luck,
Zsolt

Thank you, Zsolt, for your translation. Actually, I was not expecting
such a good review, as I had anticipated several potential problems
with this camera.

A few more good reviews, and I might change my mind. smile

How is the lens protected when the camera is not in use? I don't see any mechanism that closes over the lens. And, it looks very vulnerable if one simply puts the camera in one's pocket.
Thanks.

After you attached the camera strap you attach the lens cap, both from the box.
The lens cap is of the most efficient design. You press it to the lens and it will click into place and become part of the camera body! It can be opened and closed while still attached to S4!!
