Nikon-Crumpler This and That BagsNikon Europe Press Release

Amsterdam, November 2006. Nikon and iconic bag manufacturer Crumpler have joined forces to develop two camera bags specifically designed for owners of SLR cameras. The first fruits of the partnership are the ultra cool Nikon-Crumpler the ‘This’ & the ‘That’ bags, featuring Nikon’s world-renowned black and yellow colours, which accommodate Nikon’s best-loved products. Both bags can fit one compact SLR body, two lenses such as the AF-S DX 18-55 or the AF-S DX 55-200 and an external speedlight.

The bags can also carry a host of other essential accessories such as battery, charger and manuals, making both the ‘This’ and the ‘That’ bags an absolute must for all Nikon lovers.

The Nikon-Crumpler the ‘This’ & the ‘That’ bags are made of custom-dyed original ‘1000d Chicken Tex Supreme’ hyper performance accessory fabric with a waterproof ‘Rip stop’ Lining.

Crumpler and Nikon have thought of everything when it comes to the design of both the ‘This’ & the ‘That’ bags:

The ‘This’ is a multi-purpose photo backpack that features a new ‘Spread-em’ opening, easy access outer side pocket, inside one mesh window pocket with zip and a padded detachable photo compartment with adjustable internal dividers and super strong shoulder straps.

The ‘That’ is a dedicated photo bag that features a ‘Prince Charles’ protective seal and protective seal protectors, front pocket mesh, adjustable shoulder strap and comfy pad, super secure Velcro™ fastening with clip and adjustable internal dividers.

Additionally both the “This” & the “That” come with a lifetime guarantee on material and workmanship.

Exclusively available in Europe from December 2006.

This has to be a joke!
A black bag, my back is sweating just thinking about it, ripstop on the inside rather than outside, holds only a compact slr, 2 small lenses and flash, if you want to carry an extra battery, charger and manuals you gotta get the matching "That" bag, protective seal protectors ( is that like wearing 2 condoms at once?)... And a lifetime guarantee.. My life? yours? life of the protector seal protectors?
Available only in Europe? Lucky you!
"Custom dyed, original 1000s chicken tex supreme hyper performance accessory fabric" is almost as rare as un-born mouse-skin! I think!

I'm not sure why they're marketing it as a bag for Nikons. Wouldn't it be better to portray it as the bag for all SLR owners? And the Europe exclusivity makes it less attractive. I would like to see some pictures of the inside of the bag, too.

Chris, IMHO, whenever you can attach a name-brand logo, or name to something, there are folks that go completely nuts and figure that they absolutely MUST have it!
Looks like a nicely made bag, would have loved to see an ad that made alot of sense, rather than alot of hype!

Even if these are good bags, they are totally ruining the message by not talking about the quality, but giving us idiotic marketing speak instead. Unworthy of Nikon to go along with that.

"Idiotic", that's the word I was looking for! Thanks Paul!
Manufacturers are really getting in bed, so to speak, with each other now-a-days!
Kinda blurring the real company's individualism, a necessity of or competitive times!
Interesting to eval them and decide if it was a good decision or not, in this case, "Crumpler" may be a great bag company, and we already know that Nikon is dedicated to quality, so maybe its the advertisers that get a piece of the pie, that are as important as the manufacturers...getting out facts, and opinions based on facts, not a bunch of 1000dchickentexsuperduperhyper talk that is meaningless!
Anyway, it keeps me laughing!!

its a cool stylish bag from two v cool companies, and does not say 'steal me' any more than Nikon's own kit bag does with the word 'Nikon' on the outside in reflective fabric, so what's you point thieves obviously havent figured out people with so called laptop/camera bags that don't look like conventional kit bags, may actually have a computer/camera in em, wow what a dumb view you have of thieves. Some people like well made a stylish stuff and don't want to shamble around with some crap designed to look like a quaint hunting bag, obviously you muppets will have something safe and trusted from down the years, yawn yawn, good keep that way, oh and make sure u get it in white to reflect that pesky sun thing, what???

For those of you that don't know anything about Crumpler should shut your pieholes about quality. Crumpler has made VERY heavy duty bags for over ten years, and people should recognize that.

I think these are cool and worth purchasing.

HAH, I have the That model of this bag and I can pretty much say that it and pretty much all other Crumpler made bags beat any Tamrac, Lowepro or other crap hands down. It is pretty much nuke proof and looks like it too, awesome yellow and black colors almost make small children and dogs cry and that gives off a warning to any people who even dares to think about stealing it, so as Tuomo said, shut yer food traps.

The Nikon Crumpler 'This' is exclusive to Warehouse Express. Here's a copy of an e-mail I've just sent to Warehouse Express:- I've just received my first order from you and unfortunately, I'm also about to return the product, with a complaint. I ordered the Nikon Crumpler 'This' photo bag. The product is exclusive to you, so I was unable to view it at any retail store, prior to purchasing from you. Clearly this means that any purchasers of the product are completely reliant upon your description and the product photos on your site. My complaint is that the bag does not function as described on your site (and the photo is inadequate, as it only shows the external view of the bag).

I have a Nikon D200, with 18-70 lens, plus a 70-200 lens - not a lot of gear to fit in the bag, I'm sure you'd agree. Due to the internal layout of the bag (not shown, nor described on site), for these few items to fit in, I'd have to stand the 70-200 lens on it's end - with most of the length of the lens therefore being left unprotected by any padding. It would also leave one unable to 'close' the internal photo bag properly, rendering the camera vulnerable to moving about too!

I'm not a 'serial complainer' - I have my own business and really appreciate it, when my clients give me feedback. Truth is, I'm GUTTED that the bag is so badly designed, rendering it unusable - what a flippin' shame, it looks great! It's cost me the postage to find out that this product is not as described on your site - and that makes me unhappy too. I just spoke to one of your team, regarding returning the bag - he pointed out to me (unsympathetically and clearly unaware that this bag is exclusive to you!) that customers usually look at the product in a shop, before buying, in order to avoid this situation... If only I could have, but you don't HAVE a shop!! I'd even phoned the Crumpler importers, prior to purchase, trying to find out where I could see it...

Please sort out this issue - Crumpler should re-design the internal layout and alter the method of accessing the contents - it's SO awkward! In the meantime, you MUST put more info and product photos on your site about this bag - IT CANNOT ACCOMMODATE A 70-200 f2.8 lens!

Yours, crestfallen and out of pocket :-(
