Nikon Press Release
Nikon Launches ‘my Picturetown Pad’ App for iPad, iPhone & iPod touch
Melville, N.Y., November 16, 2011 – Today, Nikon Inc. announced its new my Picturetown Pad App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch1 is now available on the App Store. The app gives users of Nikon’s my Picturetown (http://www.mypicturetown.com) image sharing and storage service a convenient way to access their captured photos and movies from the convenience of their iOS devices.
The my Picturetown Pad App offers convenient viewing of photos and movies within a user interface optimized for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, allowing users to create albums and sort images with simple taps of the display. A ‘Book View2’ feature exhibits photos in a layout resembling those found in photo books and magazines. Each time Book View is opened, photos will be arranged differently, giving users a new perspective and experience each time they view them.
The my Picturetown Pad App also supports playback of data recorded on Nikon’s newly launched digital camera offerings, including the Nikon 1 advanced camera with interchangeable lenses and the COOLPIX AW100 rugged digital camera. For example, a Motion Snapshot file (a file that combines a still image with a slow-motion movement set to an audio track) can be played back on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch using the app once the files are uploaded. This allows users to share once-in-a-lifetime moments with depth and emotion as soon as they are captured. Additionally, the app can display photos with recorded location information in ‘Map View’ and ‘Book View,’ such as those taken with the new COOLPIX AW100 with built-in GPS. Photos can also be shared directly with users’ Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“We’re excited to offer users the opportunity to easily enjoy Nikon’s my Picturetown service from the convenience of their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch using the new my Picturetown Pad App,” said Sharon Henley, Nikon’s senior manager of product lifecycle control. “With easier access to their photos, movies and Motion Snapshot files, consumers can now share their memories with family and friends anytime, anywhere.”
The my Picturetown Pad App is available for free from the App Store on iPad, iPhone or iPod touch or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore.
