Nikon UK Increases Prices
Nikon UK has announced price increased across its range of photographic products. The increases have been made as a direct result of the “volatile exchange rate conditions”, with pricing continuing to be reviewed on a regular basis. The Nikon D300 now costs £1279.99, the D700 is £2099.99, D3 is £3599.99 and D3x (pictured) a whopping £5999.99.

Pie in the sky, a self fulfilling disaster. People will limit their expenditure to want they need (not want) and find out that their D50 can actually take pretty good pictures.
Pity the poor dealers, without which greedy Nikon (and Canon eta al) are dead.
In times such as these if you are not making a loss (and Nikon are not) you need to accept reduced margins and look to the future. Such increaes will only deepen and prolong the recession they fear.

all things from Japan prices to rise , due to Pound == Yen. However say a company like Cannon uk first they import from Cannon Japan/ Korea/ China , and I beleive pay for the stock, then they have to make a profit, then sell onto a photographic dealer, who then has to make a profit to survive. seems ok at this stage like everything in life the more you buy the cheaper the product gets .so some discounts cut the price to the bone ,
Other photograpic can't buy the camera the camera at the price the big discount stores are selling so small family photograpic shops are shutting down I blame the photograpic industry, of shutting down small family photographic shops . even big companies are going bankrupt for low prices that are not sustainable I challenge anyone to go into any large photographic shop and buy 120 film or to be offerd two types of 35mm film. ever seen a slide film on the shelves what we need is realistic prices treat all shops the same let all retailers buy at same price let the shop a flexabilty to charge a profit that thet are happy with only when this happens will the photographic industry will survive. if importers of photographic equipment increase prices if they were telephone number in the state of the world as it is at this moment in time, it will be goodbye from us and it will be goodbye to them It's a wake up call will they take any notice no? they will bury there heads in the sand

For swiss consumers the weak US$ was an opertunity to buy a camera (or of course other goods)in the us. Wich I did. I think in these modern times, where you can buy your equipment almost anywere floating currencies should be considdered in the local pricings. Not just when it goes up, but also when it goes down.
