If the 5th shot down and second from the left is full zoom from the end of the lillies to the building I'm impressed. What I read in all forums on super zooms is that there is a lot of noise, color fringing, and focus issues at 18x. If this camera has taken a lot of that away it will be hard to keep up with demand for it. Nice pictures.

Eric, yes, those 2 shots are from the widest to full zoom smile I didn't even realise the 3 men would be in the second shot!

I am impressed with the distance shots too, with low light conditions and grey buildings it has done an extremely good job. I am excited about this camera as I am currently looking for more MP and thinking of buying this one, a digi SLR is too heavy for me and the expected cost of this looks very good value for all the up-to-the-minute features. My one concern is the pic of the waterlily, it doesn't look very well focused and shows blurry blobs. My main interest just now is close up photography of insects, I would like to have seen a better close up result.

I do think this camera shows promise. I particularly like all the detail picked up in the distance of leaves etc. to me that is usually a good sign. Most of the shots would have looked lots better with around -2/3ev and a slight + on saturation, that is my taste of course as I prefer all my shots slightly underexposed. I do hope it does not turn out to be a real turkey like the Sony H9/H7 and better than the marginally better S5 from Canon. I am dying for a new toy to play with but none so far can come any where near to the Sony H1 for picture quality. That is a highly underestimated class act. So fingers are crossed it is going to be a very good camera.

The FZ18 really looks like a winner based on these photos, Ming Thein's review and other FZ18 reviews and images samples.

Sad to say, but the FZ18 looks set to succeed where the Sony DSC-H9 has failed (miserably).

I did not see any pictures in the dark... As I know the earler version had a problems with photos then it's getting dark, so I would like to see more photos in that conditions...

Dark/Low Light

Has anyone had time to play around and see about taking night/low lighting shots.

love the camera but I'd really like to take some city shots with this camera.
