Panasonic Japan has disclosed the launch date of its new Lumix DMC-GH1 interchangeable-lens digital system camera. The Panasonic GH1, announced earlier this month, is the second Micro FourThirds camera, which closely resembles the Lumix DMC-G1 but adds HD video recording with continuous autofocus, high-quality stereo sound and manual exposure control in its Creative Movie mode. In a recent press release, Panasonic has revealed that the camera will hit the shelves on April 24th. Production will be limited to 5,000 units per month, at least initially.

you should call it what it is: Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens, or EVIL.

Or maybe Electronic Lens Interactive Viewfinder System - or ELVIS?

I wonder how these will compare to the G1 for price? If there's not a huge difference it might be tempting to spend the extra, but if there is a big difference then I'd probably still go for the G1 (although I'm hoping for good news from Olympus real soon now).

it's going to be $1,500 and it's hitting Japan only on April 24th not USA on that date.
