Thank you for the photos Mark, it looks promissing :) Could you please tell me if OIS Mode 2 is available or have Panasonic removed it like they have from their G3?

Looks like a nice lens. Nothing drives me more crazy than a point and shoot with a half-inch lens.

I recently sold my Pentax K-x & twin lens kit, the camera took excellent pictures but I was tired of lugging a heavy bag around & having to change lenses which also causes dust on the sensor. I bought the Panasonic fz48 & I'm delighted with the results. Yes, it does have some 'cons' but the pros outweigh them. Light, 24x zoom optical (31x digital), Leica lens, excellent battery life, full auto mode or manual control if you wish. The colour rendition is very accurate & the pictures outstanding. There is no RAW facility but as I shoot only jpeg it's not important to me. I tried many other bridge cameras before choosing the fz48 & for me this came out tops.
