Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 at CEATEC
The German website digitalkamera.de have spotted another new development from Panasonic, shown at the Japanese entertainment electronics fair CEATEC. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1 seems to be a 5-megapixel digital camera with a 28-90mm Leica lens that has a constant aperture of f/2.0. It looks like being a very classy camera to me. The Lumix DMC-LC1 has not been officially announced yet and probably won’t be released until next year.

It does look nice doesn't it?
It looks like a very grown-up kind of camera. Lets hope that it performs OK too (and doesn't cost too much!).

This is very interesting. My favorite lens is a Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm. I hope it close-focuses like the Vivitar. No bird pics, but for everything else? This looks to be awesome!

Could be good for candid street photography if everything on the camera is nice and quiet

I read that the DMC-LC1 will have excellent features, most exciting to me is the promise of minimal shutter delay. Mechanical manual focus, wide angle, f2.0 at 28 through 90, hot shoe and 5 magapixels all suggest a dream camera. My greatest concern will be the battery issue. A dead proprietary battery makes all the above dead weight. I hope that the DMC-LC1 will operate on AA's. Battery type was the fatal flaw that led me to select the Olympus C5050Z as my first digital camera.

I neglected to mention that I was considering the current Digilux and Lumix cameras and it is the batteries in them that led me to choose the C5050Z.

Coincidentally I have an Olympus C-5050 in for review at the moment
As Jake has already alluded to, it uses 4x AA Nimh batteries, which are relatively inexpensive and easy to get hold of.
