Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2Here are the sample photos from my upcoming review of the new 5 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2, a few days before the full review is online. The Panasonic LS2 is a fairly compact digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens equivalent to 35mm to 105mm on a 35mm film camera, optical image stabilzer and and a 2 inch LCD screen.

I was particularly interested in these photos, because I suspect that
the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 uses the very same CCD.

The good news is that image noise does not appear to be a problem.
The bad news is that purple fringing is literally everywhere.

Let's hope (for the sake of the TZ1) that this chromatic aberration is
caused by an inferior quality L2 lens, not by its CCD, and that its low
noise is NOT a result of heavy-handed noise reduction. :)
