Peak Design have revealed their latest product, Capture Camera Clip v2 and CapturePRO. The San Francisco-based photography gear company describes the new Capture as a completely revamped and reimagined version of their original camera clip. An alternative to the standard camera strap, Capture is a compact aluminium clip that allows active photographers to rigidly carry their cameras on any backpack strap, belt or bag. The new version additionally converts to a quick-release clamp for a tripod or monopod, works as a GoPro mount with an optional accessory, and adds compatibility with a wider range of photography gear, like sling-style camera straps and tripod heads (ARCA-type and Manfrotto RC2). There are two versions available, the standard Capture ($59.99) for hobbyists/beginners, and the fuller-featured CapturePRO ($79.99) for professional phofographers. These products are available for preorder at a limited-time discount on Kickstarter until 23rd August.
Peak Design Unveils New Capture® Camera Clip
V2.0 of the revolutionary DSLR camera-carrying system for active photographers incorporates valuable customer and pro photographer feedback to add tripod use, sling strap compatibility and GoPro® mount
San Francisco, CA (July 16, 2013) – With two wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns under their belt, Peak Design recently announced the launch of the all-new Capture® Camera Clip and CapturePRO® with their third, yet most significant Kickstarter project to date. The San Francisco-based photography gear company describes the new Capture® as a completely revamped and reimagined version of their original camera clip, which includes highly requested functionality from their base of 50,000 active customers.
Capture® is a solution to the unanimous complaint voiced by the exploding segment of DSLR and compact-mirrorless camera owners – namely, carrying around your camera is a royal pain. An alternative to the outdated camera strap, Capture® is a compact aluminum clip that allows active photographers to rigidly carry their cameras on any backpack strap, belt or bag. Its quick-release locking mechanism enables users to draw their cameras easily to take a shot, and rapidly and securely lock their cameras back into place with a single hand.
Inventor Peter Dering launched the original version of Capture® on Kickstarter in May 2011, where it became (at the time) the 2nd most funded project in the funding platform’s history. Following that success Dering founded Peak Design and spent the next two years building his team of designers, harvesting feedback from customers and prototyping a new generation of products.
“I took the funding from my first Kickstarter campaign, and invested it all back into the business,” Dering says. “The result is a product that’s founded with the same great idea, but light years ahead in design and functionality.”
The new Capture® system boasts notable improvements benefitting photographers at all levels:
Converts to a quick-release clamp for a tripod or monopod
Works as a GoPro® mount with optional accessory, letting you mount your POV device to any backpack strap, belt, or strap-like object
Compatible with a wider range of photography gear, like sling-style camera straps and tripod heads (ARCA®-type and Manfrotto® RC2)
2 versions available – the more affordable Capture® for hobbyists/beginners, and the fuller-featured CapturePRO® for serious professional photographers
Capture®, CapturePRO® and a host of other innovative Peak Design products are available for preorder at a limited-time discount on Kickstarter.com until August 23, 2013.
