Ricoh Broadens its PENTAX Medium Format lens line with wide angle 35mm f/3.5

Ideal for landscapes and architecture, lens adds new wide-angle option to PENTAX 645 medium-format camera system

DENVER, November 17, 2015 – Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation today announced the addition of a 35mm f/3.5 lens to its Medium Format by PENTAX line of optics. The HD PENTAX-D FA645 35mm F3.5AL[IF] lens, incorporating newly designed, high-grade optical elements treated with PENTAX-original HD coating, is optimized to deliver high-contrast, high-resolution images even in the most challenging lighting conditions, making it ideal for landscapes and architecture.

The lens provides an effective focal length of 27.5mm (in 35mm format, when mounted on a PENTAX 645Z or 645D camera body). With a minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters and a maximum magnification of 0.25 times, the lens can also be used for close ups. An inner-focus mechanism keeps the lens’s total length the same during focusing, which allows the photographer to maintain stability during handheld shooting.

The lens’s advanced optical design supports the super-high-resolution imaging of the PENTAX 645Z medium-format digital camera system. It combines a newly designed, high-grade glass-molded aspherical element with a high-refractive index, low-dispersion glass element, plus a hybrid aspherical element to effectively minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations and assure sufficient peripheral brightness levels, while ensuring image resolution at the edges of the image field; enabling it to provide optimum performance with the PENTAX 645 family of medium-format cameras.
