Pentax are releasing a limited edition “Korejanai” version of the K-r DSLR in Japan. Just 100 sets of the special Korejanai K-r and a matching 35mm lens will be available in time for Christmas. It’s certainly a little more eye-catching than the usual sombre black…

As a Pentax user, may I just say that my buttocks are clenched with embarrassment?

I just bought a K-r Red, which I love. However, I sure as hell wouldn't buy the Korejanai edition. wink

Come on you people, you are supposed to be photographers, artists... can't you be a bit open minded? That was entirely made for fun and only for the Asian/Japanese market where people go crazy for anime and manga designs. But I guess that most people are not artists but just shoot boring landscapes and old people's portraits and can not understand a bit of fun.

I think it's a bold (and shrewd) move and I find the incredible conservatism of those who decry Pentax's approach quite disheartening. Functionally this is no different from any other K-R and if this model is going out with a 35mm prime lens (as pictured) then arguably it is to be taken more seriously than a black one with a kit lens. Photography is supposed to be fun. This is fun. Nothing in that impairs its ability to take great photos, and this design taken together with the creative options built into the camera ought to have quite a bit of appeal to the "toy camera" brigade while allowing them to achieve good image quality and greater creative control than you get with a Holga.

Look at the bright side: you won't have to work so hard anymore to get people to smile in your pictures.

Tassos, I understand 'fun' just fine, and if you look at my site, you'll see it's all about fun. However, I'd rather not own a camera that will get me laughed at, instead of laughed with! wink

Hi 1 Snap Music,
I agree with you, although as I mentioned that camera is for the Japanese market where people go crazy for all those cartoon alike gadgets. I like it and I still believe it's fun but I wouldn't get it either! smile
I just find it really cool of them for producing something as crazy as that!

Does every SLR have to be for serious grown ups? >-|

Why can't kids be interested in SLRs? I wouldn't want to be your kid. Get over your grown up self already.
