The K-3 Prestige is a special-edition model of the original PENTAX K-3, the flagship of the K-mount digital SLR camera series. The K-3 provides an array of outstanding features, including high-resolution image reproduction with approximately 24 effective megapixels, a 27-point AF system, high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 8.3 images per second, high-precision exposure control with a newly designed 86,000 pixel RGB light-metering sensor, a new, large, high-resolution LCD monitor, and an optical viewfinder with the largest, brightness subject image in its class. They are no longer owned by Pentax, so I would be leary of their after sale service. Google it.

Umm... What? Who is no longer owned by Pentax?

Ooops! I meant that Pentax was sold to Ricoh, and Pentax owners are having a very hard time getting service because of the transition. There. That's better.

Ahh, right. Interestingly, while I've heard the same, some people seem to be getting better service and support than before. In any case, the K-3 is a Ricoh product, so there should not be any issues, right? I mean, most of the complaints of after-sale support I've read have to do with older (Hoya-branded) cameras.

At the time I read of this problem with service the Ricoh excuse was that a warehouse was in a moving stage due to the buyout, and things would be touch and go for quite some time. I do know that a lot of disgruntled buyers of Pentax K-3's were complaining about the sad state of affairs on the Ricoh service end for that camera, so maybe it is the Ricoh warehouse being moved to a Pentax one, or vice versa?
