The winner of the 5th PhotographyBLOG Photo of the Week contest is JonRead with the entry “Lone Boat”. There are no prizes as such for this contest, but the winning photo is displayed on the PhotographyBLOG homepage for a week, and the winner can display the Photo of the Week logo on their website if they wish.
The 6th Photo of the Week contest is now open. This is a weekly photography challenge where you decide who the winner is by voting for your favourite photos. It’s an open contest with no set theme and you can enter as many photos as you like.

Cheers Mark!
It's not a particularly good scan, to be honest. The original (on Velvia or EBX, IIRC) is much smoother and even more "peaceful" as a result. I must try and do a better job with it one of these days!

Jon

What are you using to scan it? You should definitely get a good scan made and then a large print - I bet it would look great hanging over your mantlepiece

I used a Canoscan FS4000U film scanner. Nice piece of kit, but the scans I made of this series of shots just didn't work very well, appearing a bit fuzzy and grainy. I really should have another go and spend some more time over it. Now I've switched completely to digital it's gathering dust in a cupboard.

Also, I don't yet have a mantelpiece - hell, I only got plaster on the walls two weeks ago.
Cheers,
Jon

My Nikon IV film scanner is currently acting as a paper-rest for all the spare bits of stuff that I have lying around. Not quite what it was designed for. I've thought about selling it, but now that the new version is out I'm not sure the sale price would be that good (even via eBay).
