Spring into action with brand new seminar from Annabel Williams and International Garden Photographer of the Year
1 April 2010

Two of the biggest names in photography have teamed up and designed a new and unique training seminar this spring.  Lifestyle photographer Annabel Williams has combined talents with the organisers of International Garden Photographer of the year competition to host a one day workshop dedicated to ‘Photographing People Outdoors’.

Annabel Williams’ Contemporary Photographic Training is also proud to be the sponsor of the ‘People in the Garden’ award within IGPOTY’s global competition, which is now in its 3rd year. This category showcases portraits, candid and action shots of people in the garden, working, looking, playing – or just relaxing.

Annabel Williams said:  ‘Photographing people is 90% psychology and 10% technique – getting to know your subjects and using natural flattering light is very important, I’ll show delegates how to set their cameras up very simply and easily, so you they can focus on getting the absolute best from their subject!’

The seminar will be hosted at the brand new Annabel Williams studio - a purpose built training centre in the Lake District and combine talks within the studio, together with practical shoots out on location using a variety of real people as models.  The seminar is designed to help photographers of all levels, engage more with their subjects – whether that’s just friends and family, or professional models and make the most of natural lighting and backgrounds.  The seminar will also provide all the ‘pro’ tips and know-how to enable photographers to develop their own style of portraiture in the great outdoors.  So whether you are taking family shots, or looking to shoot magazine covers, this seminar is sure to inspire!

The seminar is suitable for all levels of experience – from budding enthusiasts to aspiring professional photographers.  With Annabel’s unique eye for stunning lifestyle photography, combined with her expertise in shooting outdoors in natural lighting, this seminar is a must for anyone looking to improve their ‘people’ photography.

Philip Smith, Managing Director of the IGPOTY competition said: ‘People in the Garden is one of the most popular categories in the International Garden Photographer of the Year competition – especially for less experienced photographers. Annabel has a wealth of experience in natural portraiture and lifestyle photography, and working together we will be able to open up a world of creative opportunities for budding photographers.’

The seminar takes place on Friday 14th May and costs £195 – and is perfect to combine with a weekend break to the Lake District for non-photographer partners!  Staveley is just a 5 minute drive from Windermere, close to Ambleside and many of the stunning Lakeland villages.  A range of accommodation is available locally – details of which are available from the studio.
