Photography Blog Now Up to 10x Faster
We’ve been busy doing some work behind the scenes to help speed-up the site and make it more responsive. Hopefully you should find the latest version of Photography Blog a lot quicker to load than the previous incarnation. There may be a few bugs, so if you do experience anything untoward, please report it in the comments section of this post.

Faster? It seems not. Your sample images still have to be loaded one-by-one and cannot be opened in a separate tab and they are just as slow as ever. Perhaps you haven't updated the site yet? Perhaps you also need to look at sites like DPReview, which do it properly... I still look here sometimes but I find it less and less reliable as each week goes by. The reviews are very quick off the mark but it seems that is at the expense of any real quality and the text frequently is at variance with what the images show. I suppose it sells a few cameras to the gullible.

Photographybog is not 10X faster but definitely there is an improvement. The reviews are awesome and not biased in favour of Canon-Nikon. Cheers.

Definitely faster. I'm guessing that maybe some of the other commenters may be using a wireless connection. The one I'm using at the moment is wired so that may be why I notice a difference, who knows. Always good blog posts on this site and good reviews, always check here daily.
Cheers

Faster? How is it faster? Look, here is an example of what I am sniping about: 1)in "Sample Images" when one clicks on a large image, such as a 14 megapixel image, it seems to take forever to load; nothing has changed; 2) this is the only camera review site on the web where it seems that who ever uploads the pictures to your page is too lazy to rotate pictures shot on a vertical plane; the result is that if a person wishes to really studdy a a vertical photo, he must download the picture to his personal computer and then rotate it; this wastes precious time and cuts into your bandwidth, thereby making moving from picture to picture slow and tedious with unnecesary steps. I love your site, but making a page load a little faster is only half the battle of making a website more pleasurable to traverse. The devil is in the details. I agree totally with comment #1, from Mr. Lang. You should look very closely at DP Review, another great UK site which, in its Sample Photo section, gives one the option of a slide show presentation which can easilly be paused for more extensive review of a specific photo and full screen for those with large screen monitors (Flickr uses this style quite effectively). The devil is in the details; hopefully, you will give our suggestions some real consideration. Once again, I think you have a great site which can even be greater with just a few tweaks.

Thanks, it is a lot faster now!!!!
But I cannot post comments on Opera, the input fields there are totally garbled.

I've just received the latest Photography Blog Newsletter proclaiming that after a lot of 'behind the scenes' work the site should be a lot faster.
I'm afraid it is not, it appears exactly the same to me - very slow to load pages and images.
However, I feel that it is worth waiting as this is probably one of the most comprehensive and unbiased sources of photography related information on the web.
Keep up the good work, but, maybe get a web specialist to look at the site (lol)

p.s. my connection just timed out three times after hitting the 'Post Comment' button at the bottom of this page. I'm using a good spec Mac running Leopard with the latest version of Firefox as my browser, so no problems at my end!!!
