Thanks for an interesting review of the MJU-410.
Both informative and articulate. Nice work.
I'm buying one because I do want as you say
a hard-wearing camera that you could carry round
with you at all times and still takes great shots.
Where would we be without a revieweras yourself.
Ripped off, with dodgy equipment and frustrated.
THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

The sample pics seem to be taken at HQ mode and not SHQ mode - SHQ pics usually come out at around 2.5MB.

The clearest pros & cons I ever read.
As if it would be tailored to my wife's characteristics.
As I'm a burned film user, this will be the first
digital in the family.
THANKS !

Thank you so much. I have been interested in purchasing a digital camera for some time, but have been researching like crazy to find the best camera for my needs.

Mark, your review of the Olympus Stylus 410 Digital was exactly what I needed. You answered every question I had plus more. Having samples of the photographs was extremely handy because it's hard to tell how a camera will work without seeing it's final image outputs. The video was also very handy even though, like you, I may not use the video much. The fact that it is there and that it's actually not too bad in quality is definitely a bonus.

Thank you so much, you've help me out tremendously. I'm running out to purchase myself a brand new Olympus Stylus 410 Digital TODAY!!

The most informative review I've read so far. Good to see sample pics included too - I am a 'point and click' kinda gal and am glad to learn I can produce something half decent from just the most basic camera skills! I'm not ashamed to say I think it is small and pretty too - perfect for the handbag! I've gone ahead and ordered one - here's to my first venture into digital photography!

Thanks so much for the in depth review - it was one of the reasons I got bought this camera!

I have a question though - when I open the cover and the lens extends, the camera makes a little whirry noise, and then seems to make a little grinding sound. I'm a bit concerned as I'm not sure it did this when I first got it, so I was wondering if you noticed anything similar.

Thanks again for the review - I love my mju410 grin

Blondie, I seem to remember the "grinding" noise that you mention. You could always visit your local camera shop and ask them if you could check on of their mju410's, just to be sure.

Thanks for this info. It has been one of the most useful reviews I've read. Especially as 'Digital' hadn't been invented last time I bought a camera.

A very informative, yet entertaining review. A hard mix, but you managed it! Thank you very much, I not only enjoyed it, but I also learnt a lot about the camera that I couldn't find anywhere else.
Thanks again! grin

Great review. I've had my mju410 for over 2 years and I carry it in my pocket most of the time. I find it useful to have a spare battery as all the settings including date/time can be reset if the battery is removed for a long time. One annoying problem is that the battery cover can pop open easily and the battery can fall out. It took me a while to decide on the best setup. For me this was to have all the sounds off, flash off, power-on reset off. This means that taking a quck photograph is unobtusive as there is no flash or noise - except for the whirring of the lens when the camera is switched on. There is one flaw in the review: the "round dimpled area" for the thumb grip is actually the speaker grill and is perforated not dimpled. It can be tricky to get a good grip and it is all too easy to open the battery compartment accidentaly with a misplaced thumb.

Excellent and matter of fact review.
Actually I bought this camera 3 yrs back from Singapore for $500 .
I searched a lot for info about this model to see if it is worth the money I spent.
Thank you very much, I not only enjoyed it, but I also learnt a lot about the camera that I couldn't find anywhere else.
