Canon CP-200 PrinterPhotoxels have reviewed the latest 4x6inch dye diffusion printer from Canon, the CP-200 model.

“The Canon Card Photo Printer CP-200 (and its cousin CP-300 which comes with a rechargeable battery for ultimate carry anywhere convenience) is fun and easy to use. It is compact, sleek and look modern in design. Take it with you anywhere you can plug in the power cord and, together with a PictBridge-compatible digital camera, you’ll have the modern equivalent of the instant camera.”

I got one of these and I have to say that I'm quite impressed with the print quality. I really couldn't tell the difference between these and normal 6x4 photo prints you'd get back from a high street developer. Lovely glossy photos you can quite safely take down the pub to pass around your friends.

A few things about the review. The CP-200 does not include the paper trays to do credit card sized prints or the sticky label prints, they come with the CP-300. I haven't looked into whether you can buy them separately as I'm only really interested in getting regular sized prints off my photos.

It does come with two sets of paper & dye-sub film cartridges to produce 36 prints, as well as a test pack to do 5 prints for a quick test run.

I didn't realise these printers were so affordable - only £140 for the CP200 in the UK and £165 for the CP300 at Dabs.com.

How much does the paper and ink cartridges cost Antony?

Can't remember off the top of my head, but when I was looking around I saw them going for about £12. That's everything you need to produce 36 prints. That works out about 33p per print.

Hmmmmm...that's not too bad if they all print out OK smile I have seen cheaper prices than that from online print services, like Photobox.co.uk for example.
