PMA 2007 - Sony DSLR Prototypes
PMA 2007: Sony opened their PMA show with a press launch for two new Alpha DSLR prototypes and a selection of lenses. Details about the new DSLRs are sketchy to say the least. On display behind glass was a high-end prosumer model, apparently more advanced than the current A100 DSLR, and a professional level camera, with a pentaprism that looks like it came straight from a Pentax medium format camera. The Sony spokesperson was unclear about which model would be released first, but confirmed that one of them will definitely be released before the end of 2007. Also on show were 8 lenses (again mockups rather than production products) covering a wide range of focal lengths. These are all new Sony designs and not rebadged versions of old Konica Minolta lenses. I’ve posted 9 photos after the jump.

I was wondering when the next Alphas would surface. The pro one looks pretty interesting. I like its rugged looks... It looks as though they mean business!

Did everyone miss the big Sony news?
While introducing the Sony DSLRs that are coming, they used the words 'trade-up' to these new cameras.
Will Sony provide an A100/Minolta7D trade-in allowance toward the new cameras?????

Well it is about time. I have been nagging Sony Aus and US for months...they all said "Be patient". Well here they are, the Canon busters. The trade up might be a "cross-grade" from Nik/Can to Sony??? If the pro is NOT full frame I will be upset but will still have to buy one. They need to be no more than 10-12Mp to retain high ISO quality. Christmas will be fun this year.
