According to the PhotoScala article:
"The price is unknown as well but should be under 400 Euros. There even was a rumour „somewhere over 300 Euros"

The Praktica 4008, Yakumo 84D, and Megxon C480 are all the same camera, except the Yakumo is silver. They have the Yakumo at Amazon.co.uk for about £160 - the Megxon is normally sold on ebay in the UK for around £180 - £200.

I bought a Praktica Luxmedia 4008 in January and it has proved to be a great buy. I got it for a great price and with the 8x optical zoom you get really great images. The 4.2 Mp resolution is more than enough for my needs and the camera has more functions than I will ever need. It also comes with a scene mode which is basically point and shoot.
The only criticism I could offer is that the user manual is a bit lacking but I managed to figure things out anyway. They also have a helpline you can call. Service from the Praktica UK people is second to none. I have called them twice and got speedy, satisfactory conclusions on both occasions. Last week I managed to lose the rubber eyecup from the view finder. I think I must have knocked it off while taking it out of the case I use. I emailed the service department to ask where I could get a replacement and they sent me one no charge two days later. Thank you for excellent service Praktica UK :o)

My camera seems temperamental, the selection dial needs to be tweaked all the time to get it in the right more and the batteries seem to last minutes - what are the best batteries to use?

I have one of these camera's. The yellow hand is because it is too dark where you are trying to take your picture. Please be warned that these camera's are prone to lens errors. You may be taking lovely pictures and all of a sudden your lens will get stuck, you will hear a grinding noise and the display shows something like 'Lens Home Error SW3'.
I have taken some fab shots with mine before it went wrong and even one and award for one of my photos.
