"Red Journey"

Photographer Nick Hannes has travelled the length and breadth of the fifteen former Soviet republics to document the life of their inhabitants. Awarded with the Nikon Press Photo Award in 2009, his photo series, “Red Journey”, will go on display in Antwerp’s FotoMuseum on 12 February. The exhibition runs until 12 March. The opening ceremony takes place from 5pm to 7pm on 12 February.

Nick Hannes, a journey into the former USSR

Exhibition opening will take place on 12 Februari between 5 pm and 7 pm. The exhibition will show until 12 March. Nick Hannes will be present at the opening to sign his book ‘Red Journey’ published by Lannoo, Belgium

Nick Hannes (Antwerp, 1974) studied photography at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone kunsten in Gent. He is a freelance photographer and is asigned regularely by Newspapers and Magazines. Besides that he also works on longterm documentary projects: Kurds (Forbidden people) and refuges in Belgium. His last project ‘Red Journey” is a documentary about the 15 fomer Sovjet Republics and was published by Lannoo in Belgium. ‘Red Journey” was awarded with the Nikon press Photo award and was exhibited at the FotoMuseum in Antwerp in 2009. Hannes is represented by several agencies: Reporters (Brussel), Hollandse Hoogte (Amsterdam) and Cosmos (Paris). He is teaching Photography at the Academy of Gent in Belgium.
