RED’s founder, Jim Jannard, has recently made an announcement about a major problem with their Scarlet and EPIC cameras that has been hindering their launch, and will likely continue to do so. “It has held us up now for two months,” Jannard said in the statement made on the REDuser forum. “The fix could be tomorrow. Or not.” Scarlet and EPIC - the two “brains” of the modular RED camera system - were first announced almost two years ago, and Scarlet got a price tag at the end of last year. However, the company that was going to manufacture Scarlet turned out to have “significant issues”, and RED are now trying to find a new partner.

It's so tough to know what's ACTUALLY coming from RED. Thank goodness they've actually shipped the ONE or I think their social-standing would be in a lot more jeopardy. I know developing bleeding-edge products isn't easy, but I'd rather hear nothing then constant back-and-forth and teasers on a hard-to-navigate underground forum.

Horrible have been hearing so many time they are releasing this and that, scarlet heard about it for several years but still no release. Scarlet would be able to upgrade with new sensor but rather have them release it and then update time to time then just freaking moving the date and telling people its coming. While during the wait everyone has changed to Canon.
