I don't quite get this, it has no advantages that I can see. The lenses are obviously interchangeable from the sensor so that doesn't stop dust and dirt, it's hella expensive and that sensor part to the left of the picture alone looks to be thicker than some EVIL cameras so that's the size advantage out of the window. The only way this could possibly be justified is the ability to upgrade the sensor without the body, but when the sensor alone costs as much as an entry level DSLR that's just stupid.

The whole point is that the lens and sensor are complete sealed unit that clips and unclips from the body. You seem to be confusing the sensor with the body.
Got to agree though, there is absolutely no justification for the price of the body. From what I can see the zoom lens/sensor combo is the same as that found on the GX200 and yet that unit alone is projected to cost as much as a complete GX200. So the question has to be asked; why not just carry several cameras?
Given that all the body carries is the controls, the LCD and the memory card I just can't see how they can justify over £400 for it.
I think that unless they come up with some very special lens/sensor combos pretty quickly this thing could sink without trace in short order. Which is a shame, because it's a damned good idea, but the pricing structure is a joke.
The 24-72mm zoom unit should be much cheaper than a GX200. And so indeed should the body. However they seem to be pricing both the lens/sensor unit at as least as much as you would normally pay for the camera alone. IOW to buy the GXR with the 24-72 lens unit you would pay something like twice what you would pay for a GX200. Which makes no sense at all. Sure you should pay a premium for having interchangeable lens/sensor units, but not a 100% premium.
And I'm saying this as a Ricoh fan of several decades.
