Rioch Issues CCD Notice to Customers
Ricoh have joined in the “fun” by issuing a notice to Ricoh digital camera owners about the CCD issue that has recently afflicted most of the major camera manufacturers.

Thank you for your support and patronage of Ricoh products.
With an investigation on the image sensor device, or CCD, it has recently come to our attention that a limited number of the products below (Applicable Products) that incorporate CCD of specific production lots may exhibit the following condition:
When the product is used in camera mode, the LCD panel exhibits either a distorted image or no image.
We have determined that this condition occurs only in a limited number of units, but may be accelerated if the units are exposed to high temperature and humidity environments.
In an effort to ensure customer satisfaction, Ricoh has elected to offer a free out of warranty repair to the owners of applicable products exhibiting this problem with the CCD.

I had the same problem on two RDC-7.
The first time (february 2002) after a couple of monthes of a chrome RDC-7 life; the local RICOH dealer gave me back a new unit after four monthes; the only difference was in color: black instead of chrome.Now this second camera is broken just like the first one: I swithed off a working camera and I switched on a black LCD disply, everything else is working well.
So I have double original package with standard accessories and manuals, bat one broken camera only.
RICOH repair center wants more euros than a new higher resolution camera without giving to me any kind of certainty about a final solution.
Am I one of the few ones with RDC-7 CCD problems ( as RICOH says ) or not ?
