Rollei Flexline 250 – with a licence to shake

Some scenes are surprising, unrepeatable. Strokes of luck for quick, spontaneous photo enthusiasts. All the more annoying therefore, when the pictures turn out blurred. Help comes in the form of Rollei’s new digicam Flexline 250 featuring optical image stabilisation.

A shifting CCD mechanism and an inertia sensor balance out the typical camera shake of a photographer that causes blurring. This noticeably expands the scope of action under difficult lighting conditions. Pictures taken at night and in the twilight turn out better thanks to the longer exposure times, which is made possible thanks to the optical image stabiliser. It also proves invaluable when shooting sports scenes with long focal lengths.

In addition to the optical image stabilisation, which is an absolute highlight, this top-of-the-range model from Rollei’s Flexline series also stands out – even with regard to its price and weight category – due to its impressive range of features that leaves nothing to be desired. The optical zoom of the Apogon lens is closely coupled with the ‘anti blur’ function, allowing the focal length to extend from 34 to 170 mm! The integrated face and smile detection feature, one of a wide range of motifs, guarantees successful snapshots, which are really exciting when displayed on the large, high-resolution three-inch screen. The panorama function enables pictures to be taken that extend further than the eye can see. The Rollei Flexline 250 is made from high-quality, hard-wearing aluminium and is available in either a stylish black or silver finish, meaning it is both a sight to be behold and a delight to hold. The overall user-friendly impression is rounded off by the two high-performance batteries that are supplied with the camera. The RRP is 199 Euros.

Just like the top-of-the-range model featuring twelve megapixel sensor resolution, the Flexline 200 also ‘steadies’ the photographer’s hand. This camera’s ‘anti-shake’ function defies poor lighting conditions by optimising the exposure times with, for example, high ISO sensitivity levels. 21 motif programmes allow the user to select between 200 different settings, easy-to-select ad-hoc solutions for all standard photo-taking situations. Thanks to PictBridge mode, the Flexline 200 can send its image data via the USB interface directly to a PC that supports this widespread standard. The camera’s high resolution produces razor-sharp prints up to a wall-filling A3 format. The high-contrast three inch screen facilitates precise image composition as well as the rapid display and checking of the pictures taken. As with all Flexline models, the 200 also comes with a spare battery as standard, a feature that is unique in this compact category. The RRP of 169.95 Euros offers truly outstanding value for money.

With a street price of 129 Euros, the Flexline 140 presents an inexpensive entry-level camera in this series from Rollei. With a 10-megapixel resolution, focal lengths from 30 to 128 mm, all of which is packaged in an ultra-slim 20 mm body and equipped with the classic Flexline convenience functions – it has all the characteristics of a compact camera that permits all-round, highly versatile use.
