Keep the Kids Entertained All Summer Long With Samsung’s Children Animations

Samsung’s unique dual screen cameras and animation mode will keep kids smiling and happy in your holiday snaps this year

London, UK – May 26, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has developed a creative solution to avoid those distracted children’s photos this summer. For all those parents who return from a trip with photos of their youngsters looking the other way, Samsung has developed a range of animation features which are available on its unique 2View compact cameras. As the pioneer of the dual LCD camera category, Samsung introduced the 2View innovation in 2009 and has since captured the imagination of the compact camera market and firmly positioned the technology as a market leader. The unique, new animations can be displayed on the camera’s front screen while taking the photo to keep babies or young ones captivated and ensure you catch those special summer moments.

The ST700 boasts eight fun and playful children’s animations, including engaging cartoons, to hold children’s attention while you’re taking their photo. To make sure you have the innovative and fun animations available for the ST700 this summer, visit Samsung’s website at http://www.samsung.com or the Intelli-studio interface to download the animations you would like to keep the little ones entertained all summer long.

And that’s not all, if the animations don’t grab their attention, you can also record your own 30-second movie on the ST700 and play it back on the front screen LCD screen. Alternatively, the innovative 2View camera allows you to use your photos as part of a slideshow on the front of the model, keeping the kids’ attention and making them smile along the way.

The 2View PL170 and PL120 models also include 21 creative animations to keep the kids mesmerised this holiday season. These can be quickly and simply downloaded directly from the Samsung website and accessed via the Intelli-studio interface.

Nick White, Head of Digital Imaging, Samsung UK, said: “At Samsung we are always trying to come up with creative new ways to further enhance the consumer experience. This new range of animations for Samsung’s 2View compact cameras have been designed to be as engaging as possible to help families capture the perfect shot of their little ones by keeping their eyes fixed on the camera. The animations also add to the fun of family photos which is a big part of the 2View photography experience. What a stupid idea. First of all children will now try to grab the camera, and if not, they will stare and look like zombie on the photos.

I have to agree with Jorginko - if this is the best that the future generation of cameras will bring us, well.. they really have run out of ideas!

I find that my children try to grab the camera anyway and in fact, the animation has the opposite effect because they're watching the screen (I've just tested the PL120). I didn't get a smile but they certainly looked at the camera.

What I'm confused with is that I remember Samsung telling a bunch of reporters at IFA about this 2 years ago. I thought they'd rolled it out a lot faster than this, but I've been out of the industry for a while inbetween.
