Samyang 14mm f2.8
The Samyang 14mm f2.8 is a new ultrawide, full-frame manual-focus lens that will be available in Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony/Minolta mounts. According to the official Samyang Poland website, the lens has 14 elements in 12 groups, including two ED- and two hybrid aspherical elements. The angle-of-view is 114 degrees on full-frame and film bodies, and about 2/3rds of that on cropped-sensor DSLRs. Samyang Poland has made available three Nikon D3x raw images for download, all of which were apparently shot using this lens. Availability of the Samyang 14mm f2.8 is slated for November 2009. The site indicates a suggested retail price of PLN 999, which translates into less than $360 / £220.

(Falcon also makes an 8mm 3.5 fisheye lens, so you might see that also).

For whatever reason, this comments posting will not allow foreign charcters. (it changes the symbols to other letters which is why the links above are not working).
You can view the link at the top of this google search though:

Coo - the same company also makes an 85mm f/1.4 manual focus portrait lens that is sold under a dozen different names (Opteka, Vivitar, Rokinon, Bower, the list is endless). If it's anything like that lens it will be cheap, decently made, not very sharp. It'll be interesting to see the corner performance on a full-frame body at f/8.

... and it'll also be interesting to see if it's manual focus only, like the 85mm. That must be one of the ways they keep the cost down whilst offering it for so many different lens mounts. There are some small-sized D3x samples at Samyang's Polish site:

The corner performance doesn't look too bad, although it seems to have an odd wavey distortion pattern.
Ha ha, Mr Heath. I'm going to have a cup of tea, anybody want one?

Looks like a nice lens...but I wonder how it compares to the Canon version.

"it'll also be interesting to see if it's manual focus only"
Before I get snarky comments, it looks as if the blog post has been updated; yes, it will be manual focus only. I assume it's also manual stop-down, which might be more a problem with this lens than the 85mm f/1.4 (which worked best wide-open).
Pro tip: if you have a Canon camera, buy the Nikon version of the lens plus a Nikon-Canon adapter with an autofocus confirmation chip. You get autofocus confirmation without having to glue your own chip onto the EOS mount. And you can use the lens on a D3X if you decide to buy one at some point in the future.

I got mine today.
The wave like distrosion is the bad think about it.
My lens has a problem with very incorrect focus scale. But that is not a real problem, I cant work with it anyway.
The sharpness on a Canon EOS 5D seems to bee good. The shading is ok. For mee it looks very good regarding stray light and reflections inside the image. I have shot som eimages with the sun in the image - some reflections are there, but not too much.

I currently use the 16-35mm Canon but looking for something just a bit wider. This looks interesting.
