Samyang Lenses for Four Thirds
Samyang has announced two lenses for Four Thirds. The Korean manufacturer said that as of March 2010, its 85mm f/1.4 and 8mm fish-eye lenses will be available in five different mounts, including Canon, Four Thirds, Nikon, Pentax and Sony/Minolta. Both are manual-focus lenses, and at present there is no information on whether focus confirmation will be available when used on a Four Thirds body. With a maximum aperture of f/1.4 and a 35mm equivalent focal length of 170mm, the Samyang 85mm lens will be the fastest telephoto prime in the whole Four Thirds system. Prices are to be confirmed.

170mm equivalent on an Oly DSLR is almost useless
what we need is a 85mm equivalent

would be more thrilled if Tamron decided to jump into the 4/3 mounts. They have the best budget zoom lenses… Hopefully in time.

Since the Samyang lenses are manual focus only, at least for once these wouldn’t be too burdensome to use on Micro Four Thirds via an adapter. I sometimes use an old Canon screwmount 85mm f/1.5 on my Micro Four Thirds camera (Pana G1) and can comfirm that this is a very useful focal length… although holding still is a challenge!
