Good review. As a user of this item I can confirm that this reader stands up well to every-day use. The unit is of very good construction, operates perfectly for me and transfers are fast and seamless. Slightly higher priced than some cheepos but well worth the money (I paid £29.99 on it’s first release, it’s less expensive now). One thing ……..

Quote: “The SanDisk ImageMate is supplied in both a dockable format (pictured) and stand-alone”

It’s not two totally separate units but a two-part assembly. Detaching the silver & black reader unit from the pedestal provides the ‘portable’ version, assembled they form the ‘desktop’ version.

Cheers, Dave B.

I have this and it has worked flawlessly EXCEPT for SD cards. I'm very luck if it works on them. It has never failed on Compact Flash format cards, but it's very iffy on SD's, for some reason.

I've been using my SanDisk ImageMate for almost 4 years now, and like the reviewer it sits almost unnoticed on my desk. I suppose this is a testament to the way it works - completely trouble-free. I have Olympus and Canon cameras, and use CF, SD and XD cards. It works seamlessly with my iMac (OS X 10.6.3) and my Sony Vaio laptop (XP SP3) and has never given me any trouble whatsoever. The ImageMate is still available from the likes of Amazon and Ebay, but appears to have been given a makeover - its more square and angular than this one.

A first-rate bit of kit and thoroughly recommended.
