Selecting Lenses for the Canon EOS 300D
Digital Outback Photo have added another new section to their Canon EOS 300D Experience Report. This time they look at selecting lenses to use with the 300D and some of the things that you should consider.
“What about fixed primes?
Fixed primes always get you the best quality for your money. But of course they are not as flexible as zooms. Also the old saying that you should move your body and not the range on your zoom is not always valid as there are situations where you have few choices to move your vantage point. Last not least switching lenses can introduce more dust to your sensor.”

I already mentioned this in another comment, but for anyone looking for an inexpensive zoom lens for their 300D, I recommend Canon's 75-300/4-5.6 EF III Zoom Lens:

I purchased mine from the above site and it was shipped promptly. It's not the fastest or flashiest lens in the world, but it produces tack sharp images at all focal lengths and the autofocus is fast and quiet - I'm very happy with it.
When you take the 1.6x magnification caused by the EOS 300D's cropping factor into account, this lens is 110-480mm.

That is the main benefit of the EOS digital cameras - my mid-range telephoto lens is a 70-200mm on a film camera, but becomes a 110-320mm on the EOS 10D, with no loss of light
I believe that your new lens Sean is optically exactly the same as the much more expensive IS version.

I'd kill for the IS version. Truth is, I'd kill for just one L series lens!

Thanks for the link to DigitalPhotoClub. Best Buy has this for $219 on sale, and Amazon at $189? Big difference in price.
