Shozam!Shozam! is a new gallery service aimed at professional photographers. “Shozam is the best product for professional photographers to quickly and easily promote, protect and sell images online,” said Brooks Clayton, President of Mid South Color, Jackson, TN. “I’ve created Shozam galleries with hundreds of images in under 10 minutes, start to finish. And the results are top notch. We recommend Shozam to our customers, and include it as part of our complete photographic and digital service offering.” The Shozam Business Edition is estimated to retail at a regular price of $299.95 and will be available in April 2007. The Beta version is free until the official launch of the product.

Komotion Press Release

Komotion, Inc., the makers of the popular, award-winning Web Gallery Wizard™, announced the availability of the beta version of Shozam!™. Designed for professional photographers, Web designers, photo enthusiasts and artists to showcase and sell their work online, Shozam is the only product on the market today that provides advanced features and flexibility in an easy-to-use package, allowing users to truly own and monetize their content.

A software, client-side mash-up, not a Web service, Shozam galleries are “portable” among PCs, Web hosts and social networks (via widgets).

This flexibility provides offline immediacy and impact. Galleries – complete with slideshow and background music – can be created and updated offline, moved easily from Web host to Web host, or even burned to CD and shared with clients on the spot. To extend online presence on photo-blogs and social networks, Shozam widgets provide an eye-catching, sticky method for grabbing attention.

We recommend Shozam to our customers, and include it as part of our complete photographic and digital service offering.”

Shozam removes dependency on online photo sites, eliminating commissions and reducing third-party fees. For those who want control, not “community,” Shozam users make their own business decisions and use vendors they choose. They control image compression and protection, the look and feel of the gallery and where it is hosted. Users monetize images, videos and galleries with integrated PayPal and Google AdSense™ for online advertising by simply filling in a few fields, and Shozam does the rest.

“We know the frustration with Web 2.0 services controlling and monetizing content,” said Razvan Neagu, President and CEO of Komotion. “We created Shozam so anyone can own and make money from their content, and showcase it online with a professional and custom look. It is the only offering that integrates ‘best of class’ features from existing online services, professional Web design and software titles into one, easy to use, portable online gallery creator.”

Users can get their own high-end results at a fraction of the time and cost of using a Web designer. Galleries with thousands of images can be designed and generated in minutes, not months. Gallery themes feature a Flash animated intro, standard static HTML code, and can be further personalized with the built-in Theme Editor.

Additional advanced features to showcase and sell images
• Image, video and audio support
• Image protection (watermark, right-click disable)
• Geo-tagging (Google Maps™)
• EXIF data display
• HTML custom code (add Web site banner, widgets, etc.)
• Search Engine Optimization (automatically adds metatags)
• Info page (Contact us, Biography, etc.)
• Customizable page links (to other Web pages)

Availability
The Beta version is free until the official launch of the product. Once the Shozam! Business Edition is released, Komotion will offer special introductory pricing of $100 off for the first 30 days after the product is released.

The Shozam Business Edition is estimated to retail at a regular price of $299.95 and will be available in April 2007. It’s also available for personal use, without ecommerce features, starting at $49.95. The Shozam Lite Edition is free. Trial versions are also available. Shozam runs on Microsoft Windows®.

I have been using Shozam now for a few months, as a beta tester and now as a business edition user. I have created several galleries, edited, modified and used as many of the features of Shozam as I needed. I find it to be very stable, and most of all, very easy to use. I looked at many other programs to display my photography online but found none, short of learning how to "script", that came close to offering what Shozam does. I expect to be using Shozam for years to come. Modest examples of the type gallery Shozam can create can be viewed at my website. Great program!

I downloaded the Lite version of this program which looks great! Since then I've been trying to order it online with my credit card and it's impossible. I get error messages saying e-mail address does not match when it does, and that my address does not match that of my credit card, or that credit card details are incorrect. None of the error messages are relevant to the information I've supplied. Have contacted them explaining the problems and get standardized replies which basically tell me to follow the instructions given on their order form. - none has addressed the problems I have raised The latest is that my Bank has rejected the payment for non-specific details. Now I've reverted to ordering and paying by wire transfer. Now I'm wondering - if Shozam can't address problems when ordering, what likelihood is there for constructive support when (?if) I ever manage to get the darned thing.

I love Shozam. Have used it for several years. Upgraded on Monday, February 6th and the upgrade doesn't work, but I can't get in touch with Shozam. Have they fallen off the end of the earth. I hope not. If anyone has a contact ...or can tell me how to get my upgrade to work, give me a shout.

Not sure what's going on with Shozam. Last I heard there was a new integration with wordpress. Since then I've heard nothing. I have recently switched to a different gallery program. Sorry but can't help you with the upgrade unless I know what's happening when you try to upgrade.

Thanks, Tom. They're still taking payments through Digital River (I've even been in touch with them). What program did you switch to? I haven't found anything as intuitive as Shozam.

The instructions say that you download and install and you'll be given a screen asking for your Order ID, then the program will connect to the Internet and get a new key. However, mine never gave me the screen to enter the ID. I don't want to uninstall because I might not be able to activate my current (advanced) version, so I'm stuck. So here I am, trying to get in contact with anyone who can help me upgrade.

Is it possible it actually did upgrade? You check the version #? Or did it just stop? I don't remember ever having a screen come up during an upgrade. But did have an issue installing on a new computer. The hardware key didn't match. Eventually got an email from Shozam with instructions for it to take the new hardware key.

I switched to Piwigo (piwigo.org). It's an open source gallery (PHP) which uses a MySql database. Works pretty good but has a learning curve since it runs on a "core" script and different themes and plugins.

The only reason I changed is Shozam started charging monthly for the newer version (integrated in wordpress). It just wasn't another monthly fee I wanted to pay for hosting a gallery and wasn't familiar working with wordpress. There were a couple of changes a lot of users wanted that they never incorporated. So I eventually decided to look at some others.

I checked the version and it's still advanced. I use wordpress, but not on the site I want to install it on. The instructions indicate that the key is generated when the program with the ID number connects with the server, so I don't have a new key.

I looked at server-side galleries, including Piwigo, but I just don't want to take the time to learn it. Shozam makes things easy, but I wanted access to the html (hence the upgrade) for SEO. So,if you happen to hear about anyway to contact them, I just want the key and a way to install it. In the meantime, I'll use my advanced verson.

Digital River emailed them and told me to get back with them tomorrow if I hadn't heard back. If not, I'll just request a refund for my $160. Sadly.

Thanks for listening. I feel like I've talked to the entire web (I even posted on Google Plus) and no one is listening. I found an email for Razvan Neagu and a FB account and emailed and messaged. No bounce, but not response. Not a good thing.

Bonnie,

Sorry for the delay in having us respond to you issue. RegNow provides incorrect instructions in the automated email sent out with the order. You do not need to login anywhere. I believe your issue got resolved by now and that our support team has provided you with the activation information you need. If you still have any issue, let them know and they'll be happy to help.

We have been focusing our resources on a new way of creating gallery and websites built on top of WordPress. You can learn more about it at http://komotion.com. In order to have advanced features we had to move to a hosted solution so we can control the server part too. Komotion is now in limited free beta. Once released we'll get back around to fold some of this advanced functionality (as much as we can without the server part) into another Shozam release.

We are also in the process of moving the Shozam Community Forums to a new location though it is not yet determined if it will be folded into Komotion or retain a separate identity at a new URL.

Bonnie,

I believe your issue was resolved by our Support Team. Let them know if you still have any issue. I tried to post a longer reply here but (probably because it had a link in it) it was flagged as potential spam and needs to be moderated. So this is a shorter follow-up to have in the interim.

Razvan, I'm looking forward to reviewing your new service, but I'm still struggling with my upgrade. I wrote early this morning, but haven't heard back. The key I received didn't work, sadly. I sent a screenshot so they can tell me if I'm doing something wrong, but it doesn't seem so.

Okay, this is no longer fun. I'm almost a week into an upgrade and still can't activate my program. Razvan Neagu , can you help me out here? You have a great product and it isn't working. I'll be glad to email you a copy of all the correspondence. Someone has to be able to fix this. Please advise.

Bonnie - are you now satisfied with the entire software? I'm considering purchasing it but have hesitated because of some of the comments made here. Thanks for any input you can share.

Connie ... I love Shozam. I had a rough time for a few days with activation, but once that was resolved, it performed just as expected. I don't regret upgrading and haven't found any product that gives me the results and flexibility of Shozam. Go for it!
