You have to ring up their support line and they will give you the instruction of what to do.
They told me to download the service request form online and send it to the free post address listed in it.
Sent mine out for about a week now still no response from Sony yet

I have a Sony DSC-T33 which has a fault similar to that described above (blurred image and rainbow colours around image). This model is not covered in the free re-call list. Are you aware if this model has also had problems
Many thanks Brian

@Brian: I have the same camera, and on calling Sony today they told me that I would be able to have the fault sorted for free if it is the CCD at fault. They told me to fill in a registration form as above.
Hope that helps

I just went through the process of repairing my Sony DSC-T3, which malfunctioned 2 weeks ago with the CCD problem despite having been purchased in 2004!
The problem is described here:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html
including a full list of affected models and example screenshots.
On contacting the Sony helpdesk I was told to register my fault using a form on their website. Once registered you parcel and post your camera freepost to the Sony depot in Wales.
I received regular updates from Sony by email and got the camera back yesterday, only a week after I posted it.
All in all an annoying fault positively offset by outstanding service from Sony.
Hope this helps.

My DSC-T3 has just started to malfunction with the CCD problem and I have been trying to get in touch with Sony for a repair, but I haven't had much luck so far. I would be interested to know what helpdesk Edward Smith got in touch with first. I can't find details of a helpdesk and when I filled in a form on their website I was told it would cost £114 (if I remember correctly). Thanks a lot.

Hi Zoe,
Can't remember which helpdesk I originally called; my despatch note from Sony has this phone number: 08702 408060. I just tried it and it seems to work (Mon-Fri).
When you fill in the online form it does advise you'll be charged £114 but that charge is waived if they agree it's the CCD sensor.
Make sure you write on your online form that it's the CCD impage sensor fault. The people I spoke to at the contact centre were aware of the problem.
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot Edward.
I did actually find the phone number in the end and they were very helpful and explained about the £114 being waived if it is the CCD sensor. I have sent off the camera to the freepost address and shall wait with fingers crossed to hear from them. Thanks again.

It is happy to know Sony still honor the free of charge repair despite it was 3 years since it was first announced.
That is why I love Sony product and customer support so much :D
