Sony have identified a problem with the DSC-T20 camera, where photos can’t be taken because of vibrating of the camera body. This is due to a mechanical problem with the lens. The problem only applies to DSC-T20’s with certain serial numbers. Sony are offering a free out of warranty repair to solve the issue.

Public Notice and apology to the customers of Sony Digital Still Camera DSC-T20

Thank you for your continued interest in Sony products.

Sony has recently discovered an issue with the Digital Still Camera “Cyber-shot” DSC-T20.

Sony will offer a free out of warranty repair to solve the issue. Please contact the nearest Sony Service Centre.

Symptom and cause
Pictures cannot be taken because of vibrating of the camera body. This is due to a mechanical problem with the lens.

How to check the model name and serial number
The model name and serial number are located on the sticker attached to the bottom of the camera.

Period of free repair
From 17th July 2008 to 16th July 2011

Notes
  * Please make a backup of your camera’s internal memory data prior to sending it to Sony service center in case recorded data is lost during its repair.
  * Sony cannot be held liable for any loss of data when cameras are submitted for repair.
