Sony Australia has posted product images and full specifications for a new camera called the Sony α3500. Launching just half a year after the A3000, the new Sony A3500 promises better battery life and comes with a new Sony E 18-50mm f/4-5.6 (SEL1850) lens. Otherwise, its headline specifications appear to  be identical to those of the Sony A3000 (read review). The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) is AU$499.

Sony is a very innovative company with several class leading cameras. However, they are in a pattern where newly released products are quickly updated. Unless you need something immediately, it would be wise to wait twelve months before buying.

I would go and buy the A3000 cheap today rather than get the A3500 as it seems to be a slight regression in overall features and an excuse to bump the price back up again.

Not sure where the battery life claim comes from - my A3000 lasts for ages unless I was snapping every second and a half.

While the new lens does not have OSS, the Sony website states of the A3500:- "Advanced Image Compositioning Technology
Anti Motion Blur mode decreases blur caused by camera shake and subject movement, while Hand-held Twilight mode for pleasing night-time photos." The sentence does not make complete sense, however, from this I am guessing there is some sort of in body stabilisation.
I will take advantage of A big camera chain who have the A3500 at a giveaway $299. I reckon for those on a tight budget like me, this represents the best image quality of any camera at this price point right now.
