GENERATIONS UNITED ANNOUNCES 2010 INTERGENERATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST

(WASHINGTON, D.C.)  National nonprofit Generations United is now accepting submissions for its annual photo contest, “Stronger Together: Generations Side by Side.”

The contest is open to amateur photographers of all ages.

Photo submissions should capture the power and beauty of intergenerational relationships in action, and convey the important roles that younger and older people play in each others’ lives. Winning photos are often candid shots of intergenerational relationships in action. Plan intergenerational activities where younger and older participants are taking photographs to gather entries.

Submissions for the 2010 contest must be uploaded to the Generations United Flickr group, at www.flickr.com/groups/GenerationsUnited by June 15, 2010. Only digital entries will be accepted. For instructions on how to use Flickr, download the flyer located here: http://www.gu.org/IG_Photo_Contest.asp

Created in 2001 with generous support from MetLife Foundation, the contest has since expanded into a yearly tradition with entries from all over the world. The grand prize winner receives $250; second place receives $100 and third place receives $50. Honorable Mentions will be awarded. Photographers under age 23 without access to a digital camera should contact Roxana Martinez at [email protected].
