Tamron 11-18mm Lens Price Announced
It seems that the price of the new Tamron SP AF11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF), a new high performance ultra wideangle zoom lens designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras using APS-C size image sensors, will be $981.95 in the USA. That’s a lot higher than the $550 price that I was told by a Tamron rep at PMA last month, and a lot nearer to the price of the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens. Have Tamron pitched too high - will all the Canon, Nikon and Konica Minolta owners out there choose the Tamron as their wide-angle lens, or the Sigma 10-20mm (price to be confirmed)? I’m guessing that owners of the Canon EOS 20D and Digital Rebel DSLRs will opt for the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens instead…
Thanks to Simon Heard for letting me know.
Meanwhile, take a look at some exclusive sample shots and my initial thoughts on the new Tamron 11-18mm lens.

Woah... that has to be list. If it sells for > 600 street I don't think there will be many takers. This EOS shooter would much rather have a 10-22 with USM from Canon then a tamron 11-18...

I thought this might be a good light weight camera bag accesory type lens but no ones going to buy the Tamron when they can get a Nikkor or a Canon for the same price,,. Even the Tokina is faster and a constant F for $499.00,,. May be the Sigma 10-22 will be a priced with the Tokina,,.

Let's hope that Tamron see sense or the lens gets heavily discounted by retailers. Still no news from Sigma on the price for their new 10-2omm lens...

To bad these lenses wernt mutipling like the digital cameras there intended for,,. Maybe the prices wouldnt end up at $1000.00 per,,. The Tamrons been talked about for a year now,,. The Sigma sounds interestng but Im not holding my breath on that one either!!
