TamronTamron have added a new Online Photo Gallery totheir website, the twist being that all the pictures have been shot with Tamron lenses. It could turn out to be a good resource for all would-be Tamron owners, although there are only a few photos there at the moment.

Tamron Press Release

January 18, 2007, Commack, NY— Tamron’s Online Photo Gallery is an exciting new interactive feature of the Tamron website that lets you share your images with photo enthusiasts all over the world—for free! You can also read the star ratings and comments of other photographers, get technical data on each image, see which images are viewed most often, and of course post ratings and comments of your own. When you add it all up it spells FUN, and it’s also a great learning experience and discreet way to get objective feedback on your work. To access the Gallery, just go to http://www.tamron.com, click on Photographic Lenses, then click on “Share Your Photos” and you can scroll through and check out literally thousands of fascinating pictures, all shot with Tamron lenses.

“Tamron is very interested in helping our customers expand their photographic possibilities,” states Stacie Errera, Chief Marketing Officer of Tamron USA, Inc. “The new Photo Sharing area of our website allows users to get critical feedback on their images and provides a great place for users to find inspiration. Studying what your peers are doing with the very same equipment you own is an excellent way to push your creativity to new levels.”

To post your favorite images just use the easy sign-up procedure—all that’s required is a user name, password, and valid e-mail address. You must, of course agree to the terms and conditions that allow the website administrator to remove any objectionable material at any time, generally limit liability with respect to data being lost or compromised, etc. Also note that uploaded images cannot be larger than 95K due to storage and display limitations. Finally, while we ask that you post images taken with Tamron lenses (please be sure to tell us which one you used!) there is no camera requirement for images posted on the Tamron Online Gallery. You will have the opportunity to tell us which Tamron lens you used in the Optional Information section on the sign-up page.

For the convenience of viewers and participants, images on the Tamron Online Gallery are currently arranged in 8 distinct categories—Family, Wedding, Macro, Travel/Vacation, Portraiture, Landscape, Artistic/Fine Art, and the ever popular “Other.” However, these categories will undoubtedly be expanded and refined as the Gallery grows. Other cool features include Search, Album List, Last Uploads, and the ability to tag your own favorite images for easier access. We hope you’ll take a moment to check out the amazing variety of images now posted on the Tamron Online Gallery because we’re sure you’ll be motivated to sign up and share your own photos with other Tamron shooters. And if you have any comments or suggestions, kindly send them to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Yeah I just checked out the site and the photos -

they won't do you any good - mostly low-res, they look like cheap samples. I mean do they really expect to wow their customers with those examples? Really, they don't showcase anything. I don't see the point.

They need to provide the file data and full size downloads, as well as the differences in how the lens behaves with differenent cameras. Surely they can do that much?
